   Words on music

“This is a collection of interviews with musicians and articles about music, mainly in South Africa. There are also some lifestyle, travel and tech-related pieces and, perhaps, the odd column, or other musing.

I guess it’s an online resumé of sorts but, much more importantly, it’s a record – however piecemeal and time-specific – of the music and musicians of South African and Africa, and those who visit here with their offerings of sound. I hope you enjoy the reading and, even more, I hope you go and find the music and listen to it. Much of the music you will have heard of – the big names with the big shows and the budgets for PR – and, hopefully, my interviews will give you a new glimpse of what inspires and drives these stars. Some of the interviews will be about people and sounds that are new to you – the other names, the ones still climbing the ladder or who, for artistic or other reasons, still play the undergound. Here, I hope you will drift from reading about it to actively searching for their music to listen to. Perhaps it will change something about how you feel, or how you see the world; or just about that particular moment. Because that’s what interesting music does, and what no words can ever capture.”
